The magic of radio

I love the medium of radio; I am a radiophile. I listen to CBC, Canada's national broadcaster, live and I listen to it at my convenience through the CBC Listen app. I love radio's immediacy and its capacity to harness our listening in the moment, for the moment.

The short soundscape here reminds me of why it is such a magic medium. Come with me (literally), through the magic of radio and my local morning show, on a nano vacation: Ignite your imagination!

  1. T'was lovely! But we needed to stay in that wildflower meadow just a moment or two longer ... 🌱🐝🐞🌻 🦅

  3. That was beautiful, and so evocative of the summer day we are all missing right now. Lovely to hear your voice again, Amanda, not to mention that of Marcy Markusa! Of course, I can still listen to her any morning I please, but as soon as I moved to Montréal I switched to Radio Canada for French, and CBC's Daybreak Montréal for the English voices, and I tend to stick there now.

My dad was a radio nut from childhood, a naval communications intern in WW II, and a ham radio hobbyist after that. He worked as head of the tech department at CBC Winnipeg for the rest of his career, and we kids grew up immersed in radio. Long live radio!

  4. Thank you for this, I didn’t know about the CBC Listen app before. I’ve been looking for a replacement music app because I’ve deleted my Spotify account so this is in perfect timing! ❤️
